A Lunch Date at Beach Burrito Company (346 Victoria street, Darlinghurst NSW); All photos taken by me on my Nikon D60 with Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens

Chilling out and relaxing with friends are one of my favourite things to do, so me and Betty did what we did best when we visited the Beach Buritto Company down in Darlinghurst a few weeks ago.

We ordered like experts - Hot Chips topped with Chilli, with fresh sour cream and guacamole and we topped it with chilli flakes; a cheesy prawn enchilada served with corn chips and finally a fish taco topped with crisp salad. All meals were plentiful and fresh and super tasty. We sat down in big booths meant for big groups of friends but it was just me and my friend Betty munching on the good food and gossiping about boys and baking adventures and work and boys and more boys. We sure did alot of girly giggling.

This Sunday, I planned with Reeni to go out and buy a cheap Longboard to try out our skateboarding/balancing skills. And we will watch a lot of youtube tutorials and hopefully at least master standing on a skateboard without falling over. This week all I've been fascinating about is me skate boarding down a hill we have in the local area, and how liberating it will feel when I get to the bottom of that hill. It might take months or years to master but for some reason every time I fantasise I realise I wear a big goofy grin on my face like a little kid. I am so happy about starting this new sport even though I have fear and doubt in me.
But that's the thing about me - I'm always scared shitless about everything but once I warm up to it, I find my courage again and enjoy every bit of it. Like when I started dealing Roulette at work, all I needed was a little push and encouragement. My friend Nanita always had faith that I'd like Roulette once I warmed up to it and she was pretty darn right.

Wish me luck this Sunday!

Always going out of my way to be there for friends and friends and generally, work acquaintances (both at The Star and for PR companies), I've taken a back seat into taking care of my needs and making decisions for myself. Earlier this year I wrote about my new year resolutions - those that include not dedicating too much time on Whatsapp and being fully concious of my time.  Those goals have been on track. Trying to make 2014 my year, the main, main thing I want to concentrate on this week is standing by my decisions once I make them.

I recently had to make two decisions that were very heart breaking to me but in the end were right. I'm talking about breaking up with people. I normally am the one to have my heart broken but this time I found myself strong enough to recognise what was wrong and decided that either I deserved better or that it just wasn't working out anymore.

Making that choice also means gambling the risk of feeling utterly alone during the night when everyone sleeps or is out about on the town. I've cycled through my DVDs and books and games now and I feel a rut coming along. I nap when I'm bored and I know now that is not the fabulous 2014 year I was hoping for. What happens when you're a strong, mature independent woman but you're stuck at home? I am fully concious time of my time but even girls like me feel the need to let someone else take control or make you feel giddy and girly inside.

Yet, I stand by own decision to be single, so I'm hoping to transfer all those bored feelings to the dedication of learning how to skate board. It's been a dream of mine especially since I roller bladed and ice skated when I was younger. Although there is a major risk of me planting my face to the concrete I need something in my life to feel liberated again and that I've made good choices so far for 2014. Need to start dreaming of the better life.

Christmas Dessert Table 2013, all photos taken by me on my Nikon D60 with a Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens

Christmas for me, has to always be at home. Even though every year in January I always yell out to the world (and in my head) to spend my next Christmas overseas in some exotic Japanese tea house or mountain/ New York Times Square/ Thailand beach etc...  my heart ends up being content on spending time with my best friends here in good ol' Sydney.

And why should I leave? Look at the amazing dessert table my good friend Anna and her family created for me and our close circle of friends. As our tradition, we gather up at Anna's house to have a Christmas feast, exchange our gifts, take selfies, bitch about our year and listen to Mariah Carey's Christmas album, no matter how busy we are.

We had home made tiramisu, rich chocolate brownies stuffed with walnuts topped with icing sugar, creamy red velvet cupcakes, fruit tart with custard and we drank our eggnog and champagne.

I gained a food belly after this night and I was in a food coma for days. But in preparation I've been gymming for 6 weeks straight for a night like this. Christmas is my favourite time of the year and it doesn't matter where in the world I spend it especially since the best food is always the type baked and cooked at home. And every year I am reminded on why I am friends with the friends I have today.

There are always pretty things to look at in this world. Sometimes its at the first sun-rays peeking out through the clouds at sunrise, the smile of someone you know who is absolutely smitten, a peaceful starry night, a breeze kicking up some leaves in a field, or the look of a loved one sleeping peacefully.
In this case, I found it very pretty staring at the beautiful pieces of jewellery I received from Cynthier and Shartruese last month. Cynthier makes delicate jewellery from stunning gemstones, metal and leather. They also specialise in horoscope and birthday themed pieces in which I'm wearing now (turquoise for May, my birthday month).
Australian fashion line Shartruese offers beautiful jewellery and I wear their new Bubble necklace from their Nautical Range - reminding me of pretty sights from the beach, sand between my toes and gentle waves.
With the new year kicking in, I want to keep surrounding myself with pretty jewellery, good friends, great loves, good food and family. And keep growing out my bangs. Thanking Cynthier and Shartruese for proving a great stepping stone.
