Tharens' Flaming Ice-Cream cake
Vintage black tulle skirt via Ebay store Laumet-London; Forelle strapless dress worn as a top; Sportsgirl Petra wedges, Angel Wings from Easter show, Sportsgirl neck plate necklace
Playing around with some angel wings I was recently invited to my dear friends birthday at Tharens in Kings Cross. Tharens is a party restaurant where the waitresses and waiters were dressed in costume - Elves, Snow White, Alive in Wonderland. My favourite part was that they had a wide selection of fancy hats and wigs patrons can wear whilst eating.
I wore many organza hats I swear might have come from the 1920's and lots of jester hats and crowns. They blasted 50's, 60's 70's, 80's music and while we sipped on cocktails our table sang loudly.
The last surprise was a male stripper (oh my!) but also, the flaming cake. It came out, in flames, and the waiter bravely played with the fire so it reached 1/2 a metre high. I was super surprised it turned out to be ice-cram cake! I'm no science geek but fire melts ice, right? Magic!! ....It actually turned out there was a meringue cake coating that prevented the heat reaching the ice cream... but I like to think it was.. magic!!
